There’s nothing better than a warm bowl of curry, or a plate of Vindaloo on these cold winter days. Also, did you know that Indian food is typically eaten with your hands since this is believed to enhance the flavor and experience?

Not only is the food amazing, but the ambiance in an Indian restaurant is very inviting and warm. The smell of strong spices revitalizes the senses, preparing your taste buds for their next adventure.  So next time you get a hankering for something warm and spicy try some Indian food, you won’t be disappointed. Here are a few dishes you can try!

Curry in a Hurry

A nice bowl of curry is a sure-fire way to get rid of those winter blues. Curry is a dish that typically consists of chicken or beef, that is cooked in an Indian-style sauce.  The dish contains a number of spices that include cumin, coriander, ginger, turmeric, and many more. There are many different kinds of curry, such as butter chicken, veggie, lamb, and beef. Each one is unique and delicious in its own way!

Mulligatawny: a must-try

There are many different variations of Mulligatawny, all equally mouth-watering. Mulligatawny is a soup made up of chicken, spices, and vegetables such as celery, onions, and carrots. The name mulligatawny comes from the two Indian words mulga (pepper) thanni (water). Don’t let the name fool you. It is far more than just water and pepper, this tasty dish will warm your stomach and put a smile on your face!

A real winner:  Chicken Tikka

This traditional dish is made up of chicken breast that is typically baked on skewers. It’s very important that the dish is cooked in a Tandoori oven; the oven adds a rich spicy flavor that is hard to match otherwise. The chicken tikka is marinated in spices and yogurt before it’s cooked and is similar to tandoori chicken.

Vindaloo: a must-do

If you like spicy foods then this is the dish for you; vindaloo is one of the spiciest Indian dishes. It is typically made up of lamb, vegetables, or beef and contains garlic and red wine. There are a number of different ways to make this dish, but if it’s not very spicy & tangy—then it’s not Vindaloo.  All of the above dishes are served with naan bread or rice; they go hand in hand together.

Don’t let winter get you down this season, grab some Indian food with some close friends and enjoy the season. Order some chicken tikka and a big bowl of curry and beat those winter blues.
